The town of Severance, Colorado, is located in Weld County on the Colorado Eastern Plains, less than 20 miles east of Fort Collins. Severance covers 6.3 square miles of land at an elevation of just under 5,000 feet, housing a modest population of some 4,000 residents.

The community was named for David Severance, a pioneer settler of the late 19th century. A post office in Severance has operated since 1894, and the town was later incorporated in 1920. Today, Bruce’s Bar is a local landmark in Severance, known for serving the popular regional dish of Rocky Mountain oysters. Severance is home to KRKA radio, a station with a strong signal heard as far away as Denver. Windsor Reservoir is a large body of water just outside of town.
